UE4200 variants

1. UE4215 for connection of electro-sensitive protective equipment (ESPE)
The UE4215 safe bus connection is a decentralized input slave for integrating safety components in the AS-interface Safety at Work safety bus system. Its enclosure rating of IP 67 allows installation without a control cabinet and the use of simple wiring technology. The module is installation-compatible with SICK's standard AS-interface products (series: Classic Line). The UE4215 safe bus connection is certified in compliance with EN 954 Category 4.
Special features

  • Connection for an OSSD pair for ESPE
  • Connection for the supply of the sender for an ESPE system
  • For field use IP 67
  • AS-interface (yellow AS-interface cable) interface to FKE bases
  • External power supply for ESPE over 24-V ribbon cable (black AS-interface cable)
  • AS-interface version 2.1
Examples of range of use
The following overview lists examples of several possible uses of the safe bus node UE4215 in connection with various safety components:

  • Hazardous point protection (e.g. with SICK C4000)
  • Access protection with and without muting (e.g. with SICK MSL, if the restart interlock on the protective device is used)
  • Hazardous point protection and access protection (e.g. with SICK C2000/M2000)
  • Area protection (e.g. with SICK PLS, S3000)
  • Connection of interface components in the SICK Intelliface module series UE100

2. UE3212 for connection of Sensors fitted with contacts
The UE3212 safe bus connection is a decentralized input slave for integrating safety components in the AS-Interface Safety-at-Work safety bus system. Its enclosure rating of IP 65 allows installation without a control cabinet and the use of simple wiring technology.
SICK AS-interface Safety-at-Work components are compatible with the installation of AS-interface standard devices such as SICK Classic Line AS-interface modules.
The UE3212 safety slave bus node satisfies the requirements associated with Category 3 applications, in accordance with EN954-1.

Special features

Connection of one or two positively driven safety contacts; the switching contacts must be designed as normally closed contacts
For field use IP 65
AS-Interface version 2.1

Examples of range of use
The following overview lists examples of several possible uses of the safe bus node UE3212 in connection with various safety components.

  • Connection of position switches (e.g. SICK i10 P, i10R, i100P, i100R)
  • Connection of switches with separate actuator (e.g. SICK i12, i16, i17, i110S)
  • Connection of emergency stop buttons and rope switches (e.g. SICK i110RP)

3. The UE4231/ UE4232 Safety Monitor for safety-oriented evaluation of sensor signals in AS-interface networks.
The AS-interface Safety-at-Work Safety Monitor UE4231/4232 is used in connection with other AS-interface Safety-at-Work components for hazardous area protection and access protection against the dangerous motion of a machine or equipment. The Safety Monitor may only be used in conjunction with an AS-interface Safety-at-Work network and is used to monitor its assigned safety slave bus nodes.

  • The UE4231 Safety Monitor provides one dual-channel safe switching output.
  • The UE4232 Safety Monitor provides two dual-channel safe switching outputs.
  • The AS-interface Safety-at-Work Safety Monitor UE4231/4232 can monitor up to 31 safety AS-interface Safety-at-Work slaves.

A variety of applications can be successfully implemented using SICK AS-interface Safety-at-Work components and ASiMON software for configuration of the AS-interface Safety-at-Work components.
